CATA ART ON TOUR EXHIBIT AND POETRY READING AT KIMBALL FARMS

GREAT BARRINGTON, MA—Community Access to the Arts (CATA) will exhibit at Kimball Farms Life Care at 235 Walker Street in Lenox, MA as part of CATA’s Art on Tour gallery series. A public opening will be held on Wednesday, January 17 from 3:30-5:30pm, with writer/actor Rachel Siegel reading selected works by writers with disabilities from CATA’s Writers Workshop.

CATA Executive Director Margaret Keller says,“We’re thrilled to partner with Kimball Farms for this exhibit featuring artists with disabilities, and to have veteran performer Rachel Siegel join us for a powerful reading of CATA poetry. Events like this are a great opportunity for CATA artists to share their talents with the wider community and draw us into their own life experiences through vibrant works of art and creative writing. Together, their expressive paintings and moving poems will make for a memorable event!”

Refreshments will follow the one-hour program, which takes place at 235 Walker Street in Lenox, MA. The event is free and open to all, with reservations required. Please call Sharon Lazerson (Kimball Farms) at 413-637-7043 to reserve your seat.

The exhibit runs January 17 through February 28 and features artwork by CATA artists with disabilities throughout Berkshire County in a variety of stylistic expression and media. All works in the exhibit are professionally matted, framed, and available for sale, with proceeds supporting commissions for individual artists. This event is part of CATA’s “Art on Tour” program, where original works of art created by CATA artists travel throughout the year to museums, galleries, community centers, and other venues in Berkshire County.

The exhibit is funded by October Mountain Financial Advisors, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and other generous supporters.

Community Access to the Arts (CATA), now celebrating its 25th year, nurtures and celebrates the creativity of people with disabilities through shared experiences in the visual and performing arts. Our programs take place in partnership with 46 residences, day programs, school, and community settings, serving 650 people with disabilities throughout Berkshire and Columbia counties.
