After months of creativity and collaboration, CATA artists have completed a stunning mural for the Elizabeth Freeman Center’s new headquarters in Pittsfield. The Elizabeth Freeman Center is a local nonprofit that provides lifesaving services to address domestic and sexual violence in Berkshire County.

“This partnership was a deeply meaningful way for our artists to give back to an organization doing essential work in our community,” says CATA Program Director Jeff Gagnon. “We worked closely with the Center’s Executive Director Divya Chaturvedi, refining the piece until the colors and mood felt just right.”

To bring their vision to life, CATA artists experimented with color and technique. Using squeegees, they swept acrylic paint across paper into flowing bands of blues, greens, pinks, and yellows — evoking peaceful natural landscapes. The paintings were then cut into sections and collaged together to create panels for the mural. CATA artists titled the mural Gentle Horizon, Comforting Light to reflect its calming presence. “We want everyone to feel welcomed when they see it,” says CATA artist Scott Thomas.

“CATA is deeply honored to partner with the Center on this project,” says Executive Director Margaret Keller. “We hope everyone who enters the space feels the joy, intention, and love that our artists poured into the work.”
