How many times has someone composed a ukulele ode in your honor?

Last Friday, an intimate crowd of 150 friends, family members and caregivers gathered at Berkshire South for our annual Holiday Sharing—we can hardly imagine a more vibrant occasion! Nearly 50 artists with disabilities took the stage to share what they’ve been working on since our programs launched in September.

Our CATA actors loosened up the crowd with their improv skills and our jugglers jumped in to show off their new moves. The People’s Tap Dance Theater modeled an exercise where the whole group carefully followed the actions of the leader—another CATA artist—creating a quiet and beautifully meditative moment through tap. Our drummers brought us into a collective groove, our yogis led the whole audience in deep breathing and stretches, and the CATA Serenaders performed a rousing song written by Vikki True—Rise Up Singing—sung in three-part harmony!

And then… our ukulele players performed an original new piece—written by CATA artist Natasha! We’re still singing the catchy refrain, “Go CATA! Go CATA! CATA go, go, go!”

We wish you all could’ve been there! But in many ways, you were. Your unflagging support for CATA is what allows us to do what we do.
