I AM A PART OF ART: CATA ANNUAL Art SHOW

(16/23) LICHTENSTEIN GROUP 16

Gallery wall with an assortment of small abstract paintings and one large blue painting in the center

ABOUT THESE PAINTINGS:

To create her stunning, large scale painting “The Circus” (2021), artist Betsy Carlotto used an adaptive painting technique called “Artistic Realization Technologies”. Using a laser pointer and working closely with a trained assistant (CATA’s faculty artist Pat Hogan), Betsy showed Pat exactly where and how she wanted to move the paint across the canvas. Click the video below to hear Betsy describe her creative process.

Alongside Betsy’s painting are six vibrant works which complement each other through similar color palettes and motifs. Sam Pelletz’ crimson and blue painting of a flower draws on the sophisticated color palettes in paintings by Franck Felix and David Messina, while contrasting with the icy arctic scene in Nathaniel Moncecchi’s Snow Village. Two distinct animal paintings accompany the groupโ€”a monochromatic study titled Dog Waiting by Maryellen Harris and a mischievous black cat playfully painted by Tom DuCharme.
