I AM A PART OF ART: CATA ANNUAL Art SHOW

(8/23) LICHTENSTEIN GROUP 8

Gallery wall with five multicolored abstract paintings in black frames

ABOUT THESE PAINTINGS:

The three abstract paintings in this grouping use varying relationships with negative (white) space to create motifs across the canvas. The brushstrokes in Corinne Morrison’s reserved, minimalist painting leap off the page against the white background—while the colorful paintings by Liam Wheeler and JoAnn saturate the canvas with pastel tones, leaving only brief moments where the blank canvas peeks through.

Paired with these works are two paintings which capture moments that usually pass quickly and unnoticed: a richly-hued cityscape by Scott Thomas—whose moody tones of red and blue evoke a city coming to life as the sun quickly sets—along with a delicately painted still life of a pear just as it begins to ripen by Tim Schnopp.
