I AM A PART OF ART: CATA ANNUAL Art SHOW
(3/23) LICHTENSTEIN GROUP 3
(3/23) LICHTENSTEIN GROUP 3
Thanks to the work of local leaders Gwendolyn VanSant (CEO & Founding Director of Multicultural BRIDGE) and the W.E.B. Du Bois Legacy Committee, Great Barrington, MA celebrated its first annual W.E.B. Du Bois Legacy Day in 2021. Artists in CATA’s portrait painting workshop honored Du Boisโa civil rights leader and co-founder of the NAACP who was born in Great Barrington. Together, CATA artists learned about Du Bois’s work and created powerful portraits celebrating his legacy. For her portrait of Du Bois (on display here), artist Natasha Lorick used tones of grey and black to emulate a black and white photograph. Watch the video below to hear Natasha speak about her work.
Natasha’s portrait is paired here with a vibrant portrait of a panther by artist Andrew LaPatin, alongside abstract paintings by Bobby Sartori, Julie Raymond, and Colin Grossman. Together, this collection of paintings creates a complementary color palette that draws your eye to the unique character in each of the works.
