I AM A PART OF ART: CATA ANNUAL Art SHOW

(20/23) LICHTENSTEIN GROUP 20

Gallery wall with a large red and green abstract painting alongside four small yellow and green paintings. Two sculptures sit on a white stand.

ABOUT THESE PAINTINGS:

Chuck Housman created his powerful abstract painting using an adaptive painting technique called “Artistic Realization Technologies” or A.R.T. Using a laser pointer and working closely with a trained assistant (CATA faculty artist Stefanie Weber), Chuck directed exactly where he wanted to move the brush across the canvas. His painting has an incredible and even intense energy in the way the red background sits behind the vibrant green. The choice of black paint in the top left really gives the painting a depth that really canโ€™t be ignored. Click the video link below to see the “A.R.T.” technique in action!

Paired with Chuck’s painting are four brilliant still life paintings of flowers by Katie Flynn, Scott Thomas, Jane Cole, and Joyceโ€”each with a distinct color palette and personality.
